Gleanings for July 1
TOTAL TRUST
Colossians 2: 6 & 7 Living Bible Paraphrased: “Just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust Him too for each day’s problems.
“Let your roots go down deep into the soil of His love so you will grow strong in truth and faith. Let your lives overflow with thanks-giving for all He has done.”
FAITH CONFESSIONS FROM THE PERSONALIZED PROMISE BIBLE
Colossians 2: 18 & 19: “I will not allow anyone to judge me and tell me that I need to be humble (a false humility that does not proclaim or receive what God has done), or entice me into the worship of angels, or try to disqualify or talk me out of the prize that Jesus won for me.
“When they go into great detail about what they see (not realizing that we walk by faith and not by sight) and what they know (an abundance of worldly and unspiritual knowledge) I shut my ears to them. Most of them are arrogant and puffed up in the head and they don’t even know it.
“They don’t have a clue that all of their knowledge comes from the sense, and such knowledge is contrary to the things of God in this earth. They have severed their connection with the Head (Jesus), by whom the whole Body, supplied and knitted together with joints and ligaments, grows with the perpetual increase that comes from God alone.”
Verses 3: 1 – 3: “Since I have been raised together with Christ, I set my heart on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
“I have a resolved determination to focus my attention only on those things that are of God and spiritual, and not on earthly sense ruled things for I died with Jesus on the cross (in regard to my old, sense-ruled nature), and
“My life is now hidden with Christ in God. My Father is a Spirit; therefore, I will worship Him, receive from Him, and fellowship with Him, in the spirit.”
Verse 3: 4: “When Christ, who is my life, appears, I will also appear with Him in glory.”
Verses 3: 5 & 7: “I put to death all of those things that belong to my old, sense-ruled nature: such as sexual immorality, lust, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, which is idolatry.
“Though I used to walk in these ways, I now rid myself of them.”
Verses 3: 8 – 10: “I will not allow such things as anger, rage, malice, slander, and foul language to go forth from my lips.
“From now on I will speak only the truth, for I have put off my old nature with its practices, and have put on my new nature, which is being renewed in the knowledge of its Creator.”
