THE JOY OF THE LORD January 1

HAPPY NEW YEAR

“For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  Romans 10:13

“Today people everywhere are gathering together to celebrate the first bright moments of the New Year.  Yet for thousands of others, this day will be the toughest 24 hours of their lives.  For those people, New Year’s will serve only as a dim reminder of loneliness and loss.  It will simply mark the beginning of another year of failure.”

That is a quotation from the Devotional Book entitled “Faith to Faith” A Daily Guide to Victory written by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland.  It is an excellent book, I highly recommend you purchase a copy and read it every day of the year.  You can inquire at the TCC Office for more information about it if you are interested.

The devotional continues to comment about the fact that many people “put on a happy face while “inside” they are carrying a heavy load---the load could be “guilt” or it could be “sorrow” caused by various things that happened throughout the past year.    People, who read Grandmas Gleanings, have been told about the “Good News” of the Gospel.  We have shared that the news is GOOD because the TRUTH which is the Word, goes to the SOURCE of any problem someone might encounter.  When you have a need, a good question to ask yourself is: What is my relationship to the God Who created me?  (He is the God of the Bible.)   If you have not been told “what a relationship” with Jesus is?  First:  it begins with the words you speak:

Romans 10: 9 tells us:  “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  The way to receive Eternal Life is not difficult---all it takes is a yielded heart.  The price has been paid for you by Jesus.  When you tell Him you choose to say yes to His invitation, you will find a new peace entering into your life.  You will agree with the hymn writer who wrote:

What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought,

Since Jesus came into my heart!

I have light in my soul for which long I have sought

Since Jesus came into my heart!

I have ceased from my wandering and going astray,

And my sins which were many are all washed away,

Joy floods over my soul like the sea billows roll,

SINCE JESUS CAME INTO MY HEART!!

That is an old song but the message is true.  Someone once said: “My soul is restless until I find REST in Jesus.”  If you have never given your life to the Lord—start this brand New Year, right---turn the reigns of your life over to Him.  You will never regret it.  The result of that decision will be:

THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH!!
