LOOKING TO JESUS
Isaiah 55: 10 & 11 NKJV: “As the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
“So shall MY WORD be that goes forth from MY mouth, it shall NOT RETURN TO ME VOID, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
John 1:
1—“IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD!!”
JESUS
is THE WORD made flesh! He is the ultimate expression of Almighty
God. In the Old Testament God spoke the
world into existence. In the New Testament God spoke His final WORD through HIS SON!!
The Scripture, God’s Word, is very exciting for me. I heard someone say this on TV today: “The Bible is not a book of rules; it’s a bag of SEEDS.” That caught my attention because it is TRUE. As a SEED, the POWER in God’s Word will ALWAYS fulfill—bring to pass---the promise written therein.
For
many centuries God made a promise that
a Messiah would come; finally that Word was fulfilled when Jesus was born in
John 1: 14, 16 &
17: “And the Word became flesh
and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father, full of grace and truth. “And of
His fullness we have all received, grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
The scripture that says: “of His fullness we have all received grace for grace” points out the fact that God meets us at our point of need in the Person of Jesus Christ, this includes all His power and provision; for that benefit we should be eternally grateful!
The mother of Jesus must have discerned the uniqueness of her Son. Jesus’ first miracle came at her request. Mary, Jesus and His disciples were invited to a wedding and when the host ran out of wine, Mary went to Jesus and said to Him, “They have no wine.” John 2: 3.
John 2: 7 says: “Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” And they filled them to the brim.” When the guests were served the contents of the pots they found it to be the best they had ever had.
“This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.” John 2: 11.
We have begun our quest of “Looking unto Jesus, the originator and perfecter of our faith.” Hebrews 12: 2. We will continue this search in the days ahead.
REMEMBER: THE JOY OF THE LORD IS YOUR STRENGTH!!
